From Small to Large and Back:
“After making jewelry for 20 years I discovered that my eyesight was failing and my ability to set small stones and perform the delicate welding and soldering that had been both exciting and routine had become slower and much more difficult. Clearly it was time to switch gears and develop some of the many ideas that were waiting in my sketchbooks for more time and space. Gradually I began to spend more and more time at the farm in Maine. It was exciting and satisfying to finally work on the myriad of ideas that had been waiting in the wings. Welding, smithing heaving metal with a coal forge, and carving rocks and beach stones with diamond grinders was a giant step from the micro world of my jeweler’s bench.
"It has been a learning and growing experience."
