Eli Helman is a self-taught, outsider artist with a unique style of "Maximalist" pen and ink drawings. Combining an eclectic blend of animal and nature themes with an odd sense of humor and oftentimes a twist of the absurd, he weaves a highly detailed and intricate array of decorative art and folk art inspired shapes and patterns to create a whimsical, abstract and surreal visual experience. Having an emphasis on tightly drawn lines to create an unyielding lack of empty space, his work embodies one of the many definitions of Maximalism -- to pack in as much visual information as possible while drawing upon many different styles at once. Using a time consuming process to construct his drawings, he hopes that you will find something new every time you gaze upon them.

Born and raised in Framingham, Massachusetts, Eli has lived in Washington, D.C., Tuscon, Arizona, Deer Isle, Maine and Georgetown, Maine pursuing various art and music projects. He is now showing his work at art festivals around New England and New York.
