"Alan Watts once said that trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth. I feel the same way about defining my art. I am intrigued with the relationship of opposites, purposeful and accidental, gesture and detail, drawing and painting (are these opposites?). I started using found paper (junk mail, brochures, paper samples) to explore layering of imagery. I use words not only as design elements but also to encourage the viewer to form his/her own narrative. The thoughts are random, exploring the intimate quality of stream of consciousness writings...and drawings."
