Sara Demrow Dent is a studio artist who has been writing and painting for over 10 years.  She received her BA from Syracuse University in fine arts and filmmaking and completed her Masters Degree in Art History and quality studies at Christie's Education New York and London.  Sara is also a Graduate Gemologist in diamonds and colored stones.  Sara has shown her work in New York, California and Massachusetts and is included in collections internationally.  She is an award winning featured artist at the Newburyport Art Association and works out of her studio in West Newbury MA. Most recently, Fall 2009, Sara had the Honor of winning Best of Show for the Second time in three years at the prestigious Fall juried Exhibition at the NAA.  She is represented by Chameleon Gallery in Newburyport, MA.

"My work strives to wed wild nature with a more architectural line.  I utilize many layers of paint and charcoal and include my own poetry that has evolved from my observations of natural beauty, color stories, and love of verse.  Shapes and forms in nature inspire me.  I feel flowers and birds are poetic and I like the marriage of words and paint.  I take macro photography in my own garden and wherever I travel, especially Italy (where every vista and flora seems to beg to be painted).  I break these images down to basic shapes that eventually walk a line between abstraction and representation.  I include my own poetry and journal entries that inspired an individual or group of paintings.  I welcome commissions and can include a client's own poetry or inspiring words.  I ultimately hope my work creates an atmosphere of both serenity and vibrancy."
